AI Tools and Applications

This is a small book for the course AI Tools and Applications. It is for first year B.Tech students of GVPIHLR, Visakhapatnam. It is common to all branches.

The book is written in simple English. The sentences are short. New words are explained at the end of each chapter.

How to read this book

  • Read one chapter at a time. Each chapter takes about 10 minutes.
  • Every chapter has a Try it box with links. Open the links and try the steps yourself. This is the best way to learn AI tools.
  • Every chapter ends with a New words box. Read it if a word is new to you.
  • The last chapter is a guide to the 20 lab experiments. Use it in the lab.

What you will be able to do

After this course, you will be able to:

  1. Explain what Generative AI tools are and where they are used. (CO1)
  2. Write good prompts to get useful answers from AI. (CO2)
  3. Use AI tools for writing code, fixing code and making documents. (CO3)
  4. Make images, greeting cards and presentations with AI. (CO4)
  5. Design a small AI application in a safe, legal and ethical way. (CO5)

What you need

  • A laptop or a phone with internet.
  • A Google account (Gmail). This gives you Gemini, NotebookLM and Google AI Studio.
  • A free ChatGPT account. Go to chatgpt.com and sign up.
  • A free Canva account and a free Gamma account. You will make these in Units II and IV.
All the tools in this book have a free plan. You do not need to pay for anything in this course.
